What is MacklinConnection?       

MacklinConnection is a virtual-based company designed to help you understand and practice the mechanisms of human interaction. This is the foundation of creating a workplace that prioritizes creativity, engagement, and innovation. Using our framework – The Macklin Method – you’ll discover how to communicate, listen, ask for help, and be an offer of help to others. This allows for better collaboration within teams and transforms company culture.

What is The MacklinConnection Method?

Based in biology, the 7-part MacklinConnection Method explains why and how humans connect — then shows the steps required to create connections. 


Ron Macklin realized early in his engineering career that he had a passion for building and leading teams. And he realized that to succeed, he needed to learn why people connect and how they create results together. This realization led him on a 30-year journey that culminated in the creation of The MacklinConnection Method and the launch of MacklinConnection.

The first part of the method is about how you exist and move in the world. What do you care about? Do you make choices that reflect what it is you really want? Or are your actions influenced by what you think you’re “supposed” to do? 

You’ll begin to reflect on if you are acting authentically or if you’re pretending to be someone else or taking on another’s way of operating. Are you just going through the motions, or are you actually embodying the way you want to live?

This part of the method is all about self-inquiry. You’ll evaluate who you are and what you really want – not what you think you should be or what others have told you you are. This will help you gain clarity on how you show up in the world and in interactions with others.

You might be wondering what getting to know yourself has to do with getting along with others. We believe when you understand yourself – your emotions, your past experiences, and your self-talk – you can better understand the people you work with. Knowing yourself allows you to observe others and develop a sense of empathy. This is foundational to establishing a strong team.

The next part of The MacklinConnection Method is about noticing. Communicating only works if the other person is in a receptive state. You have to first notice that your listener is open about what you have to say. By observing the other person, you can learn when they are ready to be approached. If they are closed off, they won’t be able to hear you. Instead, they will be running through their own self-talk. 

For example, if someone seems stressed, it’s not a good time for them to be able to really hear your offer. You wouldn’t want to approach someone who is in the middle of venting about a project gone wrong. They won’t be able to fully process what you have to say. Once you observe that they are in a receptive state, you can make your offer to help and provide options on how to move forward. 

The final parts of the method involve giving someone the space to accept your help. Ultimately, it is their choice to collaborate with you or not.

The steps of the method are repeated whenever you engage with another person. The Macklin Method is like any other skill; it requires practice to begin to make it a natural part of your interactions. 

What is The MacklinConnection Method Workshop?

In our MacklinConnection Method Workshop, we share the 7-steps that will assist you and your teams create a more collaborative and engaging work environment. 

To truly succeed in business, you need teams who can work together. This can be an intimidating idea, especially in a society that traditionally promotes independence. It can be overwhelming to even know where to begin with developing a better work culture.

In the workshop, you’ll be given the opportunity to improve your ability to build powerful support networks by actually trying out the method and experimenting to find what works for you. Throughout the course, you’ll examine your interactions, then design new ways to engage with people.  

In The MacklinConnection Method Workshop, we don’t tell you what to do. There are no lectures. There is no grading, no failing, no critiques. Instead, you are invited to discover the method through interactive discussions, thought-provoking readings with reflective questions, and practices you can try out in your daily life. 

It has been shown over and over again that telling someone information doesn’t help them actually learn it. This is why our program is built to let you learn by doing. We are here to create a space for you to improve your interactions with others by giving you the tools and strategies you need to actually put the method into practice (instead of just reading about it). 

The workshop is led by instructors who are experienced in the method and actively practice it. You’ll also be learning with a group (or you can bring your whole team) in order to gain new perspectives and cultivate a sense of empathy.

We have found that those who go through the workshop are able to make changes in the workplace that actually matter. Our workshop participants consistently report feeling like they can trust and believe in themselves and others. They learn how to effectively communicate with others (which ultimately involves being an active listener) and establish themselves as someone others want to work with.
